A ray of hope

Postie called Pat at the lighthouse and told his friend the situation.

“I’m glad you’ve called,” said Pat. I’ve got some good news. I had a visitor a short time ago. It was Mike, our diving friend. He met a member of the crew of Sea Wolf in the pub. He told Mike how he got into the water after dark and managed to get Dilo to swim into a net.”

“Why did he tell Mike all this?” asked Postie.

“He’d had a lot to drink.”

“Do you think he would tell the police what happened?”

“I’m not sure. Mike said that the skipper of Sea Wolf is a very nasty piece of work. I wouldn’t like to be in the diver’s shoes if he did.”

“Well, if he won’t tell the police we’re almost back to where we started.”

“Not quite,” replied Postie. “I’ve contacted International Wildlife Watch. They have said they will take legal advice and run a FREE DILO campaign.”

“That could take ages, and we are only here for another couple of days,” responded Postie.

“I know,” said Pat. “but there is a ray of hope. I asked Mike to ask the diver to come to Crookhaven and see Dilo in the pool. I thought if Debra talked to him she could persuade him to join the FREE DILO campaign.”

“Do you really think he will come?” asked Postie.

         “I don’t know. I just don’t know,” replied Pat.
