Whale and Dolphin watching occurs throughout the year in the deep seas from any part of Sri Lanka. Species commonly sighted are the Blue Whale, Sperm Whale, Hump Back Whale, Spinner Dolphin, Bottlenose Dolphin, among others. Sometimes, dolphins can be seen close to the beach.

A typical 14 or 15 day tour of Sri Lanka combines whale / dolphin watching, visiting the archaeological sites located within the cultural triangle, a wildlife national game park, the Singharaja tropical rain forest, a 500 million years old Wawulpane limestone cave with a natural waterfall in it, the Horton Plains Nature Reserve with the world’s end, Royal Botanical Garden, Elephant Orphanage, enjoying the breathtaking scenery and natural landscapes while travelling in a train, and for the adventurous type, jungle trekking, camping, hiking, deep sea wreckage scuba diving, cycling, snorkeling, mountain biking, sport fishing, angling, all types of extreme water sports, etc. etc.
